Fire Fighters Funeral
At the funeral home:
In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Glory to you, our God, glory to you. Heavenly King, Comforter, the Spirit of truth, who are present everywhere filling all things, Treasury of good things and Giver of life, come and dwell in us. Cleanse us of every stain, and save our souls, gracious Lord.
Holy God, Holy and Mighty, Holy Immortal, have mercy on us (3).
Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and forever and to the ages of ages. Amen.
All holy Trinity, have mercy on us. Lord, forgive our sins. Master, pardon our transgressions. Holy One, visit and heal our infirmities for your name’s sake.
Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.
Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and forever and to the ages of ages. Amen.
Our Father, who are in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory, of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and forever and to the ages of ages. Amen.
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound, That saved a wretch like me.... I once was lost but now am found, Was blind, but now, I see.
T'was Grace that taught... my heart to fear. And Grace, my fears relieved. How precious did that Grace appear... the hour I first believed.
Through many dangers, toils and snares... we have already come. T'was Grace that brought us safe thus far... and Grace will lead us home.
When we've been here ten thousand years... bright shining as the sun. We've no less days to sing God's praise... then when we've first begun.
At the cemetery:
Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and forever and to the ages of ages. Amen.

FIRE FIGHTER MEMORIAL SERVICE
Almighty God, we pray that you give rest to Your servant _____, and place him/her in Paradise where the choirs of the Saints and the righteous will shine as the stars of heaven. To Your departed servant, we humbly pray, that you give rest, and to his family, peace.
Like a blossom that wastes away, and like a dream that passes and is gone, so is every mortal into dust resolved; but again, when the trumpet sounds its call, as though at a quaking of the earth, all the dead shall arise and go forth to meet You, O God: on that day, O Lord, for him whom You have withdrawn from among us appoint a place in the tentings of Your Saints; yea, for the spirit of Your servant, O Lord.
Composed by St. John of Damascus
With the Saints, we pray, give rest, O God, to the soul of Your servant where there is no pain, nor sorrow, nor suffering, but life everlasting.
Among the spirits of the righteous perfected in faith, we pray, give rest to the soul of Your servant. Bestow upon it the blessed life which is from You, O loving One.
Within Your peace, O Lord, we pray You give also to the soul of Your servant, for You alone are immortal.
You are our God who descended into Hades and loosened the pains of those who were chained. We pray You Grant rest also, O God, to the soul of Your servant.
Again we pray for the repose of the soul of the departed servant of God Thomas who has fallen asleep, and for the forgiveness of all his sins, both voluntary and involuntary.
The reading from the Gospel of St. John. (John 5:24)
The Lord said to those which had come to him: Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears my word and believes him who sent me, has eternal life; he does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.
O God of spirits and of all flesh, You have trampled down death and have abolished the power of the devil, giving life to Your world. We ask that you give rest to the soul of Your departed servant Thomas in a place of light, in a place of repose, in a place of refreshment, where there is no pain, sorrow, and suffering. As a good and loving God, we humbly pray that you forgive every sin he has committed in thought, word or deed, for there is no one who lives and is sinless. You alone are without sin. Your righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and Your word is truth.
Grief and sorrow are the prices we pay for loving someone. Thomas is at peace and interceding on our behalf. We continue to pray for his soul with the expectation of being together with him again. May your memory be eternal, dear brother, for you are worthy of blessedness and everlasting memory.
